The Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (IDDMIB) successfully executed the Gulf Countries VTD (Virtual Trade Delegation) event, which transpired between the 22nd and 25th of June 2020. The event was distinguished by the attendance of 24 member corporations, spanning across a variety of sectors, including Aluminum, Kitchen, Building Materials, Casting, Welding, and Hardware.
As the event commenced, an informative meeting was held, witnessing the participation of distinguished attendees. These included the Commercial Counselors from Manama, Muscat, Doha, and Kuwait, along with the Dubai Trade Attaché. Furthermore, Mr. Tahsin Öztiryaki, Chairman of the IDDMIB Board, the board members, the representatives from the participating companies, and a consulting firm were also part of this initial assembly.
During the opening assembly of the Gulf Countries VTD, insightful information about the delegation was shared. This included critical details like the delegation dates, existing market shares, export and import data for the concerned nations, details of the meetings planned, and important aspects that companies should be cognizant of. This aimed to prepare the participants for the ensuing trade meetings and negotiations.
Taking advantage of the digital landscape, bilateral meetings were scheduled on the Zoom platform, spanning over the four-day event. Each of these interactions was planned for a duration of 20 minutes. Over the course of these virtual trade discussions, a total of 142 business conversations were held. These meetings offered a platform for dialogue and potential collaborations between the participating member companies and 50 local companies. Such an event has underscored the significance of digital platforms in facilitating international trade, even amid challenging times.
